Indian Views

"The Chowanoc were an Algonkian tribe. This site has a HUGE number of on-line books you can download http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jmack/algonqin/algonqin.htmAlso, http://www.coastalcarolinaindians.com/research/FPC-1790Census.htm gives information about Indians on the 1790 census, and while by this date, our ancestors were certainly living as white, it shows how many Indians lived in North Carolina. Note the information on the BASS family, which was a mixed Indian and white family. This might give us some context on the viewpoints of society while Fereby was alive, on Indians. It may help us understand how they wanted to mix into white society."
